| Sloped or gabled roof lines |
| The trick is communicating the details correctly. Essentially, we need the geometry of the panel and exactly where it will go. If you have a sloped or gabled roof line, be sure to print out the order worksheet in PLAN. Unless the roof line slope is relatively flat (1 in. rise per 1ft. run), sloped panels should be Velcro attached. Tracking is problematic because either you are pulling the curtain up hill or dumping the curtain on the floor when you pull it down hill.
On the porch below, the client would only have the option of tracking the level portion along the center face between the two outer support columns. |
Shed Roof - Where the roof line pitches down away from the house. As you are standing on the porch or patio with the house behind you, typically you will have 3 sides of your porch exposed. The sides are sloped and the center face is more or less level. Starting LEFT to RIGHT, we need: The width of all three exposed sides, the height at all 4 corners, (two at the house and both outer support columns), and the desired width of each panel. Believe it or not, with that information, we can cut some very unusual shapes.
Click on the photo to the right and notice where 2 panels come together near the outer support column. We don't want 2 panels to meet at a corner when there is no support column, so it needed to turn the corner and meet near that left column. |

Gabled Roof - The only information we need is the width of the base and the height at the peak. Generally, we Velcro both sloped roof lines and if there is a vertical post that drops straight down from the peak, we will bind 2 panels together and enable you to Velcro to the vertical post for added stability (as in this example). For gabled roofs, it is a good idea to order marine snaps and apply them around the entire perimeter of the triangle every 4 to 5 ft.
Floor slopes - Sometimes the roof line is flat but the floor slopes. This is common for concrete patios to allow for drainage. If the height difference along any exposure is 2 inches or less, ignore the slope and measure for a simple rectangle using the tallest height. If it is more than 2 inches, call us and we will cut the floor slope. |
