Tips on measuring

1. Be sure to make the adjustments described below. This isn't difficult, but it is one of the most important pages on the web site.
2. A short curtain is a bad curtain. There is little consequence if the curtain is a bit too wide or tall.
3. The curtain is designed for a relaxed fit. Be mindful of how you intend to seal the sides and base. Will you need an extra inch or two?
4. Measure along the path that your curtain will take. An outside hang will measure differently than an inside hang.
5. Measure twice so we only have to cut once.

If you are using ceiling mounted track, simply measure from where you intend to mount the track to the floor. This will automatically give you a 1 inch overlap with the floor since the track and carriers already provide a 1 inch drop from the ceiling.

Width adjustments

1. Each side of a curtain panel that attaches to either a WALL or the INSIDE of a support column requires an extra 2 inches so that you can comfortably turn the binding inward for it to be secured with one of the attachment items. If you can run the curtain to the furthest edge of a support column, terrific! With no inward turn, the extra adjustment won't be necessary. If an inward turn is required on both sides of the same curtain panel, you must double the adjustment.

2. Automatically, add 1 more inch to each curtain panel. There is a complicated reason but we thought we'd just keep it simple.

3. Add 1" per 10ft of curtain panel width and round UP. For example, if you are ordering a 34ft wide curtain panel and have made your adjustments for attachment, go ahead and add, yet, another 4 inches. (34/10 = 3.4 rounded up to 4 inches).

Height adjustments For Velcro attachment, imagine where you intend to place the adhesive-backed 5/8" Velcro strip to the top of your structure. Measure from the top of that strip to where you want the bottom of the curtain to be, overlapping the floor by 1 inch or more.

A great example

Lets say you have a porch with 3 exposed sides for which the LEFT SIDE = 9ft, CENTER FACE = 20 ft, and RIGHT SIDE = 8ft. You have chosen a funky 3 panel configuration and have measured based on how you want to attach. The height from ceiling to floor measures between 103 - 101 1/2 inches tall.

Standing on the porch with the house behind you panning LEFT to RIGHT:
Panel 1 covers 14ft as it runs 9ft down the LEFT side, turns the outer corner, and runs another 5ft where it stops to join with Panel 2.
Panel 2 covers 15ft of the remaining CENTER face stopping at the FAR edge of the outer right corner column.
Panel 3 covers the entire 8ft RIGHT side. You have measured it to attach it to the inside of the corner support column for an inward turn.

Here are the widths and height you would order:
Panel 1 14ft measured + 2 inches (inward turn at the house wall) + 1 inch (per panel) + 2 inches (14/10 = 1.4 rounded up) or 14ft 5in.
Panel 2 15ft measured + 1 inch (per panel) + 2 inches (15/10 = 1.5 rounded up) 15ft 3in. Recall there is no inward turn.
Panel 3 8ft measured + 4 inches (2 inward turns, at house and corner column) + 1 inch (per panel) + 1 inch (8/10 rounded up) or 8ft 6in.

Height Taking the tallest measurement of 103 in., A tracking attachment order = 103in. and a Velcro attachment order = 105 in. (Velcro adjustment is tallest height + 1 in. to mount to the lowest perpendicular edge that holds adhesive Velcro +1 in. overlap with the floor.
