Handling Corners

90-degree curved track is machine bent into a 12 inch radius. It is rigid track that you cannot bend yourself. In addition, we have 135-degree tracking for soft octagonal angles. Intuitively, folks think of these as 45-degree tracks; but, we're the pocket-protector geeks who studied trigonometry on prom night.

Fig - D   Our favorite way to handle corners

Quite often, you don't need a 90-degree radius curved track, at all, and can have 2 straight tracks meet at a right angle (Fig D) which is the cleanest way to handle any corner. Video of a track application?

Because the right angle track is not continuous, the panel must draw TO the right angle but will not flow PAST a right-angle configuration. This works for most people since they want to draw curtains to the outer porch corners any ways. The only way to draw from one leg of the angle around the corner to the other leg is with curved track.

It is a sleek and clean look using two straight tracks that come together at a hard right angle (or ANY angle). Curtain panels can straddle this type of angle with a portion of the curtain panel on one tracking leg and the other portion on the adjacent tracking leg. The tracking gap at the angle is simply bridged by the curtain panel itself!

Stainless steel Marine Snaps can be ordered on the store page. We provide a tool so that you can position the marine snaps exactly where they are needed on any perimeter binding of the curtain. The male snaps are on a 5/8" screw stud and will screw into most any surface.

We describe marine snaps in more detail including a installation video in Sealing Sides.

marine snap the top and bottom binding of the curtain to the column as well as stretch elastic cord along the inside of the corner column for a nice crisp edge.
Elastic Cord is stretched between 2 eye screws vertically so that the curtain that turns a corner has something to go around.

Elastic cord pinches the curtain to the corner column and acts as a rib to maintain a clean crisp edge. Without elastic cord, the corners would float in the breeze.

Fig - C is an outside hang and is sometimes used if you have enough soffit for the curved track to clear the corner support column.

This method is very rare and Figure D (outside column) is generally preferred.

Outdoor Curtain Tracking We offer powder coated aluminum curtain tracking. While similar to Kirsch tracking, our outdoor curtain tracking uses splices to align the outdoor curtain track. Outdoor Curtains glide easily with our own custom designed snap carriers that help to give this outdoor curtain tracking an excellent top seal.

Our outdoor curtain tracking is similar to what is used for hospital privacy curtain tracking. While this outdoor curtain tracking has a white powder coating, you can paint the curtain tracking if it is prepared well. We do carry a limited stock of silver anodized outdoor curtain tracking, however the powder coated aluminum hospital privacy curtain track is better suited to hold secondary paints and will limit oxidation of the aluminum curtain track
