10 principles to remember
1.

Be sure to read ALL the relevant pages in LOOK, LEARN and PLAN. Except for very unique situations, we have never received a question that is not answered on these pages. If you have trouble finding the right page that will answer your question, visit our FAQ page or our site map. When we answer questions over the phone, we ALWAYS use the web site to show you the answers since the photos tell the best story. If your curtains will be rectangular, you can order directly and securely on our online store. If you need help with configuration, please email us a digital photo.

2.

An outside hang is preferable to an inside hang because you can utilize the natural structure of support columns and any railings you may have to maximize usable porch space including free access to any railings. Inside hangs tend to have better curb appeal and outside hangs better from the porch as the eye wants to see the architecture unobstructed. Most Velcro attached orders use an outside hang.

Tracking attachment commonly uses an inside hang for curtain panels that turn a corner because they swag prettier. Heavy wind is less relevant with tracking attachment since mosquitoes are terrible fliers and curtains can be swagged open. Tracked curtains tend to be tied back 95% of the time so think about how the curtain will look both open and closed. Review

3.
Side bindings of a curtain panel can be secured to either a support column, the house, or to another panel. You may enter and exit at the side end of any panel. Curtain panels that meet at a support column both hide the seam and the sides can be secured to the support column. Review
4.
A curtain panel does not seal well to another panel at a corner (unless Velcro ed together / Not preferred), rather, it is better to seal adjacent side bindings directly to the corner support column, each independently. Side bindings will not seal to irregularly-shaped columns, but panels can seal to each other and then snap to an irregular-shaped column for stability. Review
5.
You should try to minimize the number of panels as the curtain is very pretty when it is seamless and you have less to seal. The feedback we receive is that folks try to over-plan for every conceivable exit, when in practice, 1-2 exits are generally sufficient.
6.
Masonry, such as brick or stucco, can stress the netting fabric, so consider ending a panel at a masonry support column so only the sturdy binding can is directly exposed to masonry. If the netting must pass masonry, either block the curtain netting or pad the masonry. Review
7.
Consider right-angle straight tracks instead of curved track, if you plan to swag the curtain to a particular corner where the curtain panel turns that same corner. Review
8.
Try to configure tracked panels less than 30ft wide so they will be easier to draw. Velcro attachment panels can be any width.
9.
Obstructions such as rain downspouts can be avoided with a panel split on either side of the obstruction. Generally, there is a vertical support column near obstructions that will be useful to seal the side bindings of you curtain.
10.
Rectangular shaped panels can easily be ordered directly online. Non-rectangular shaped panels and roof panels will require that you phone in your order. You are always free to email us photos if you need help with a particular issue.
